Toward the end of last month, Canada-based wholesaler Anderson Vacations wrapped up its fall series of Cross Canada Agent Appreciation Events in eight Canadian cities, including Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, as well as Victoria and Vancouver, Britsh Columbia.

“I thank all the partners and agents for their support and effort in making each of the events such a success,” said Corey Marshall, president and CEO of Anderson Vacations. “Travel agents are the reason our company has become the 147th Fastest Growing Company in Canada, named by Profit Magazine, and it is through these evenings where mutually beneficial and profitable relationships develop between agents and our products.”

The Experience India Society and the Ministry of Tourism of India treated Los Angeles to a night of Indian cuisine, photography and fashion last month as part of a week-long celebration of Indian culture that was partly organized by National Geographic. The evening included a fashion show, classical dance performances, photo exhibition, display of handmade arts and a lavish dinner. Among the high-profile chefs chosen to bring a taste of India to the Southland was chef Hemant Oberoi of the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers.




Cooper to HeadBrendan Vacations

TravCorp USA has announced that Don Cooper will be taking over the position of president of Brendan Vacations, effective Oct.19. The new appointment comes in light of outgoing president Gary Murphy’s decision to the leave the company in order to join his father at Amawaterways. Cooper brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry, recently holding the position of managing director of Australian specialist FIT operator, New Horizons Holiday.

“I look forward to leading the company through its next stage, incorporating state-of-the-art and user-friendly technology using iTropics and iNavigate for escorted and independent vacations,” said Cooper.



Lee to Head Korea Tourism Organization

Charm Lee, a German-born, naturalized Korean, has been named president and CEO of the Korean Tourism Organization. Lee’s appointment comes as a significant stepping stone for Korea, as he is the first naturalized Korean to hold a top government position.

“My background allows me to see things from a different, multicultural standpoint, and I will do my best to elevate Korea’s tourism industry through strengthening overseas marketing and expanding tourism infrastructures from the perspective of a consumer,” said Lee.
