Northstar Travel Media, the parent company of TravelAge West, participated in the 28th annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles in memory of colleague and friend, Matthew Sullivan. Sullivan was a supporter of AIDS research and prevention, and his friends, family and colleagues came together to honor him at this event for the second year in a row.

“I know that Matthew was watching over us during the walk and smiling because we were doing something to help stop this disease,” said Sharron Baird, Team Northstar’s top fundraiser. “We miss him terribly and wanted to do something positive in his memory.”

Michelle Rosenberg, vice president of Northstar Marketing Solutions, organized the team and helped motivate participants to surpass a fundraising goal of $3,000. To date, the team has raised $3,740 to benefit the AIDS Project Los Angeles and 29 other important L.A. County AIDS service organizations.

“As we mark the 31st year of the epidemic in the U.S., AIDS Walk Los Angeles remains a critical — and, in fact, the single largest — source of private support for those who rely on our services,” said Craig E. Thompson, executive director of AIDS Project Los Angeles. “With their incredible fundraising, AIDS Walk Los Angeles participants are changing lives, powering prevention efforts, and supporting advocacy work to defend the civil rights of all who live with this still-deadly disease.”

A total of 30,000 people walked the streets of West Hollywood, raising upward of $2.9 million dollars for the cause.
