At the Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s holiday reception in Los Angeles, Ms. Janice Lai, director general of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, shared her views on tourism to Taiwan in 2011 and for 2012.

“Our international visitors have increased significantly since 2010, and we are ready to welcome more to Taiwan in the coming year,” said Lai.

As of November, Taiwan Tourism Bureau’s total number of tourists was at a high of 619,343, reflecting a growth rate of 17.08 percent. The growth rate of visitors from the U.S. was at 9.77 percent. The Bureau is expecting to achieve 10 million tourists to Taiwan by 2015.

“We are honored that Lonely Planet recently voted Taiwan as one of the top 10 countries in the world to visit in 2012,” said Lai. “With this recognition, we are confident that the island will attract more travelers looking for a great destination in Asia.”
