Loews Lake Las Vegas is targeting teens and tweens with its new Smart Phone Scavenger Hunt using Quick Response (QR) codes, the black-and-white bar code advertisements that have recently gained popularity in magazines and elsewhere. Using a QR code scanner available on most smartphones, families can spot QR codes throughout the resort, scan them and view insider tips, offers and fun features about the resort.
“Kids are very tech-savvy these days,” said Brian Johnson, general manager, “and we thought it would be a fun way for them to ‘invent their day’ by discovering special offers, features and facts about the resort.”
The scavenger hunt includes six different perks hidden throughout the hotel, including a free kayak rental and a tip to check out the desert tortoise habitat, where Mr. and Mrs. Speedy, two rescued desert tortoises, live on property.
