Warhol & Pop Art

In commemoration of the 11th annual For the Love of Arts month in Las Cruces, N.M., the Las Cruces Museum of Art is presenting the work of famed Pop artist Andy Warhol through April 3. The exhibit, titled “Warhol & Pop Art,” will feature more than 20 pieces by Warhol, including those of his contemporaries, among them Robert Rauschenberg, Jim Dine and Roy Lichtenstein.

The exhibit features art work from the New Mexico State University Art Gallery’s permanent collection as well as works owned by a private collector — some of which have never been publicly displayed.

On Feb. 20, the museum will host a poetry reading about Warhol, Warhol’s iconic images (Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Mick Jagger, Sigmund Freud, Campbell’s Soup, etc.) and popular culture: “Warholed: Poetry and Pop Culture” at 11 a.m. in the museum.

The Las Cruces Museum of Art is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is closed on Sunday.
