Santa Fe, N.M., is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year by inviting the community at large to help select the state’s new Santa Fe 400th Anniversary license plate.
The public will be able to choose from three options created by Eric Griego, a local designer for Firestik Studios and can cast their votes online. On July 31, the design with the most votes will be featured on the new license plate.
The new plates will be available for purchase at any New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles location after Labor Day. Under a funding initiative responsible for creating, producing and promoting 400th commemoration activities for the city, $25 from the cost of each license plate sold will go to Santa Fe’s 400th Anniversary Commemoration.
The commemoration kicks off in September on Labor Day weekend, featuring Viva! Santa Fe, a community festival that celebrates the sights, sounds and tastes of Santa Fe. It concludes with the New Year’s Eve Legacy Ball on Dec. 31.
