Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

New Mexico’s Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta returns this fall with an event that celebrates its history of 40 years. The premier international ballooning event takes place October 1-9 at Balloon Fiesta Park. The 200 acres of grass and booths will be filled with balloons and vendors selling traditional New Mexican food and event memorabilia. Balloon teams come from all over the world to participate in the spectacle — possible due to the Albuquerque Box phenomenon, a series of weather patterns and landscapes that allow balloonists to control their sky-high adventure.

Beginning in 1972 with the launch of 13 balloons, the Balloon Fiesta has grown to include over 500 balloons and hundreds of thousands of guests at Balloon Fiesta Park each year. It has since become one of the most photographed events in the world.
