The Las Cruces Convention & Visitors Bureau is celebrating its 10th Annual Mesilla Valley Maze by introducing the first annual New Mexico Pumpkin Festival. Although the maze will last from Sept. 27 through Oct. 26, the Pumpkin Festival will only be around from Oct. 11-12.
During the two-day pumpkin-palooza, children and adults alike can participate in contests that include seed spitting, pumpkin-pie eating, pie throwing, pumpkin shot putting and pumpkin carving.
For $10, kids can adopt a pumpkin which will be fed and raised by the farm and, on Oct. 12, prizes will be awarded to the three heaviest pumpkins. All proceeds will benefit the Las Cruces Future Farmers of America.
All-day activities include hayrides, face painting and the famous corn maze, among other events throughout the day.
Admission for adults is $8 and is $6 for children.
