Pollin Hotels and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) have unveiled the much-anticipated new lifestyle brand, aloft hotels, to the Pacific Northwest with the opening of aloft Portland Airport at Cascade Station.  The new build hotel offers Portland area visitors an exciting, high tech, yet affordable place to stay and play.

Owned and managed by Pollin Hotels, the 136 room aloft Portland Airport at Cascade Station marks the next phase in the newly developed Cascade Station Center and is conveniently located on Portland’s light rail network, connecting guests to both the Portland International Airport and the entire Portland region.  The location offers access to Portland’s business areas and corporate offices as well as its many local attractions, such as the city’s hot restaurant scene, the exciting Pearl District, the beautiful Tom McCall Waterfront Park, theatres and microbreweries.

“We are excited to open our doors in Portland, Oregon,” said Brian McGuinness, Global Brand Leader of aloft and element hotels worldwide.  “Guests to aloft Portland Airport at Cascade Station can socialize over a drink and a friendly game of pool or they can escape to the streamlined and stylish guest rooms for a good night’s sleep before exploring the vibrant area of Portland.”

“aloft is a new hotel concept for Portland, and the timing is just right,” said Harold Pollin of Pollin Hotels.  “Not only will Portland now have an affordable, stylish and ‘connected’ hotel, filling a niche for Gen X & Y leisure and business travelers, but the hip w xyz bar will draw locals as well. We are redefining the lines for Portland lodging.”

In the same way that W Hotels broke through the clutter of conformity in the upscale hotel arena in 1998, aloft is shaking up the lodging industry with high design at an affordable price point, accessible technology, style and a social atmosphere.  This year alone, 17 aloft hotels will open their doors from Montreal to Portland, Rancho Cucamonga to Beijing and already the brand has announced over 90 properties worldwide. aloft Portland Airport at Cascade Station is the ninth aloft property to open and the first in the Pacific Northwest.

aloft offers vibrant public spaces designed to draw guests from their rooms to mix and mingle.  Savvy travelers can read the paper, work on their laptops via complimentary hotel-wide wireless Internet access, play a game of pool or grab a drink with friends at re:mix, the communal lobby area featuring the sassy w xyz bar.  The re:charge fitness center and splash, the indoor pool, give travelers options to de-stress and re-energize, while re:fuel by aloft, a one-stop food and beverage area offering fresh foods prepared on-site, such as a house-smoked Pacific Northwest salmon wrap – all to grab & go, 24 hours a day.  Not just a pretty space, aloft Portland Airport at Cascade Station is committed to the environment through aloft’s see green program, which offers such eco-friendly amenities as preferred parking for hybrid cars, eco-friendly laundry and cleaning chemicals and a greener-saline solution in the splash indoor pool, in addition to adding their own fleet of on-site guest bikes.

Guest rooms feature urban-influenced design, while the centrepiece of each aloft room is an ultra-comfortable plush platform bed.  Loft-like nine-foot ceilings and oversized windows create a bright, airy environment.  Large, stylish bathrooms complement the guest experience with oversized walk-in showers and amenities created by Bliss Spa®.  Each aloft room is also a combination high-tech office and entertainment center, featuring wireless Internet access and plug & play, a one-stop connectivity solution for multiple electronic gadgetry such as PDAs, cell phones, mp3 players and laptops - all linked to a large, flat-panel HDTV-ready television for optimal sound and viewing.

Room rates for Portland’s aloft hotel start at $99, with an average room rate of $129. Guests of aloft can book their stay directly through, which features the best rate guarantee.
