Astoria's Perfect Pair: Fresh Fish and Craft Beer

Back-to-back events in Astoria celebrate fresh seafood and craft beer

Back-to-back weekend events in Astoria this September celebrate two north coast Oregon loves: fresh seafood and craft beer.

From Sept. 18-19, clients can cheer on fishermen during the annual Commercial Fishermen’s Festival, held on Pier One at the Port of Astoria. Skilled seafarers compete in fun competitions including crab pot stacking and knot tying. Attendees can try fish filleting and oyster shucking, enjoy live entertainment, sample delicious food, and take part in artisan crafts and activities for kids. The festival runs Sat. from 10 a.m.–8 p.m. and Sun. from 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

From Sept. 24-26, the Pacific Northwest Brew Cup takes place, sponsored by Baked Alaska and Fort George Brewery. Filling the Astoria Public Square downtown, the festival invites clients to sample beer and root beer tastings and enjoy offerings fromm food vendors, live music and games for all to enjoy. Proceeds benefit Clatsop Community Action Regional Food Bank, a United Way of Clatsop County Agency. Admission is free, tasting glasses are $7 each, and beer tokens cost $1.
