Come September 2010, Portland will feel the beat during MusicfestNW, featuring more than 150 bands across multiple venues. An estimated 20,000 fans will flock to stages around town to catch top-name bands at the event.

Last year, MusicfestNW -- the third largest indoor music festival in the U.S. -- earned a spot on Time Magazine’s list of 50 Authentic Experiences of 2009. This year, it celebrates its tenth consecutive year by adding new outdoor venues. In a festival first, The Decemberists and The National will headline outdoor performances in Portland’s historic Pioneer Courthouse Square on Sept. 11 and Sept. 12, respectively. Other confirmed headliners include Austin folk-rock band Okkervil, reunited metal band Sleep, Portland’s own indie-rock trios The Thermals and Menomena, and emerging hip-hop star Wiz Khalifa.

Also new this year, MusicfestNW is partnering with Nike for a series of free all-ages daytime performances at the Wonder Ballroom; and with You Who Portland to present You Who: A Children’s Rock Variety Show, with the Thermals and guests at the Kennedy School on Sept. 12.

MusicfestNW wristbands are offered at two prices. The $90 all-inclusive wristband provides access to both outdoor shows and the rest of the four-day festival, while the $65 wristband is good for one of the two outdoor shows and the rest of the festival. VIP wristbands and individual tickets for shows at Pioneer Square, Crystal Ballroom and the Roseland Theater are also available.
