Travel Portland's Green Meetings Toolkit

Despite what Kermit the Frog says, it can be easy being green, even when it comes to organizing meetings, conventions and large-scale events. That’s what inspired Travel Portland to create the Green Meetings Toolkit. In the toolkit, meeting planners and event organizers can find real-world applicable answers to questions about how to host green functions and ways to save money in the process.

Even organizers who aren’t planning an event in Portland can benefit from the toolkit’s many resources, including a checklist for evaluating a destination’s eco-friendliness, a webinar on planning a cost-saving green meeting, data on how green meetings keep budgets in the black, and the “Meetingland” game that leads players on the path to Greentopia.

The toolkit also gives planners useful information on Portland, including venues, transportation, attractions, dining and pre- and post-tour ideas. Businesses and tours are highlighted on interactive maps powered by, a social-networking website where planners can find ratings and reviews posted by Portland visitors.

And in a final twist, the site’s faux film trailers (including “Greenwashed” and “Mon Assemblée Vert”) have been provided to help make green meetings fun.
