During 2010, veteran guide company Rogue Wilderness Adventures is offering what it calls "paddle pairings," three excursions that combine whitewater rafting with Oregon's culinary bounty.
During a trip called Paddles and Pinots, participants spend the day rafting through the wild and scenic Rogue River canyon. In the evening, guides prepare a gourmet riverside dining experience with a menu built around a collection of Oregon's finest pinots (July/August dates to be determined).
Clients booking Paddles and Pints can join famed Oregon brewer Mark Vickery on a whitewater-and-suds adventure. Vickery offers daily presentations on beers of the world, riverside tastings and food pairings (Aug. 27-29).
Paddles and Paws -- a three-day rafting adventure on the Rogue River Canyon -- caters to dogs and their owners. Participants dine on Oregon-inspired meals, including salmon for humans and culinary kibble for canines. Every day includes walks along the Rogue River trail. Lifejackets for all critters, two- and four-legged, are provided (Aug. 30-Sept. 1).
