Perhaps the greatest harbinger of spring in Portland is the return of its many farmers’ markets, where locals and visitors alike peruse produce picked days — if not hours — earlier.
Portland Farmers Market runs six markets, the largest of which is now open on Saturdays at Portland State University in downtown’s South Park Blocks. There, scores of vendors are selling the freshest produce around to thousands of residents and visitors in a brilliant display of sights, scents and sounds.
The Portland State University Market is located between Southwest Hall and Montgomery Sts. Other market locations include Pioneer Courthouse Square, Shemanski Park, the Buckman/Sunnyside neighborhood, the corner of NW 23rd and Savier St., and the King neighborhood.
