For the 12th straight year, subscribers of Meetings & Conventions (M&C) magazine, a leading trade publication for meeting planners and suppliers, have recognized Travel Portland with a Gold Service Award. Receipt of the award also secures Travel Portland’s induction into M&C’s Gold Awards Hall of Fame, an honor reserved for convention and visitors bureaus (CVBs) that have earned gold awards for 12 or more years.
Travel Portland is one of eight CVBs that were recently inducted into the Hall of Fame. Established in 1984, M&C’s Gold Service Award is the ultimate recognition of excellence for CVBs. It is given annually to CVBs that are nominated and chosen by the magazine’s 72,000 subscribers. When voting, M&C readers are asked to consider which bureaus offer the most comprehensive materials and assistance and employ the most professional, helpful sales and services staff.
“The 2008 Gold Hall of Fame inductees have met the tough standards of our readers by providing consistently outstanding service,” said Bernard Schraer, publisher of M&C. “Planners depend on respected organizations that maintain their high standards while still being flexible to the everchanging needs of their clients.”
“The convention market is incredibly competitive,” said Michael Smith, Travel Portland’s vice president of convention sales. “An endorsement like this – coming from meeting planners themselves –gives us a tremendous edge over the hundreds of other destinations vying for the same business that Travel Portland is pursuing.”
