Oregon is home to more microbreweries per state than any other. Now a few newcomers are making the beer scene even more interesting.
Using one of the state's sweetest exports, Block 15 Brewery in Corvallis is brewing up tasty fruit-infused brews using Oregon-born and -bred marionberries, strawberries, raspberries and stone fruits.
Rogue Ales in Newport is using the best of Oregon in its latest brew, which features barley from the Tygh Valley, hops in Independence, yeast from Odell and free range coastal water – creating an all-Oregon Sesquicentennial Ale to celebrate the state's 150th birthday.
A few more breweries are set to open later this year, including Upright Brewing and Hobo Brewing, both in Portland. Find out more by visiting the Oregon Brewers Guild web site at www.oregonbeer.org.
