Cowboys will continue to assemble at the Amarillo Civic Center for the Working Ranch Cowboys Association's (WRCA) annual World Championship Ranch Rodeo in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The WRCA has signed an agreement with the Amarillo Civic Center and the Amarillo Convention & Visitor Council to finalize the arrangement.
"This has become our city's signature event. Everything about the World Championship Ranch Rodeo reflects our core history and heritage, from cowboys to family values to great entertainment, and it is one way to step into the real Texas," said Dan Quandt, executive director of the Amarillo CVC.
Now in its 17th year, the World Championship Rodeo is considered a celebration of Texas history and heritage and attracts participants and spectators from across the country, particularly from the Western U.S. The weekend of the event is known to bring more than $2 million to the city's economy.
Performances will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with an additional show Sunday afternoon. Tickets can be purchased at United Supermarkets, the Amarillo Civic Box Office and through PanhandleTickets.com for Thursday and Sunday shows.
