Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport recently launched a new mobile app for smartphones, designed to provide travelers with information and updates on flights and airport services.
Customer-requested features of the app include flight information and tracking; flight and gate updates with push notifications; information on parking availability, locations and rates; locations of restaurants and stores; and the “Within Five Minutes of My Gate” feature, which highlights restaurant and shopping options nearest to the customer’s gate.
“The DFW Airport mobile app has everything a passenger needs to make a trip through DFW faster and more efficient,” said Ken Buchanan, executive vice president for revenue management.
More than 100 local and connecting DFW passengers served as volunteer beta testers last fall for the app, and their feedback was incorporated into the model.
“We listened to what our customers had to say about the types of functionality they want in an airport-based mobile app, and our beta testers’ contributions were invaluable,” said Sharon McCloskey, vice president for marketing services at DFW. “With 85 percent of DFW travelers now using smartphones, features such as up-to-date parking availability will not only be innovative but really helpful for customers.”
The mobile app and is currently available as a free download at the iTunes App Store, Google’s Android Play Store and BlackBerry App World.
