The event is free with a donation of three non-perishable food items or a cash donation to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. The annual festival draws upward of 15,000 spectators and over 350 entries every year.

More than 100 gallons of hot sauce are consumed here, where homemade, restaurant and commercially bottled salsas compete. This year’s festival will take place on Aug. 24 at Waterloo Park from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
