Caribbean Steel Drum Festival // (c) 2010

On Saturday, March 27, the Houston area will host the annual Kemah Pan Jam Steel Drum Festival — a family-friendly event bringing together reggae singers, calypso musicians and authentic Caribbean steel drummers from Texas, the Caribbean and other destinations. Confirmed acts include Earl La Pierre, Hannah’s Reef, the University of Houston Pantagonist, the San Jacinto Steel Drum Band and the Lone Star College Steel Drum Band.

From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., the streets of the Kemah Lighthouse District will come alive with the lively beat of steel drums and other Caribbean tunes. Clients can expect street parties, craft vendors offering a variety of tropical gifts and curios; food booths dishing out festival favorites; a Bungee jump; a raffle; a Texas chili cook-off and more.

Admission is free.
