The Texas Hill Country was recently named the top hidden gem among wine destinations by the travel guide website, And, at Duchman Family Winery, located a 30-minute drive southwest of Austin, visitors can taste some of the best wine that the region has to offer.

Every Saturday and Sunday between noon and 7 p.m., visitors can participate in grape-to-glass tours with a Duchman wine expert and tour guide. No reservations are required, and tours leave on an hourly basis. Private tours and tastings are also available during non-peak hours for $10 per person with a minimum of 10 guests.

The tasting room is open daily as well, so visitors can sample Duchman’s festive rose (a flavorful blend with crisp fruit aromas and a hint of tannins), which has proven to be a popular wine during the winter season. The newly revamped tasting room, managed by certified sommelier and certified specialist of wine Bill Elsey, continues to draw scores of locals and tourists alike. All of the winery’s current releases can be sampled and purchased there, along with a selection of gourmet cheeses and charcuterie.

Additionally, Duchman’s Italian-style villa, picnic tables and grounds are available to all visitors of the winery. Operating hours are from noon to 9 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. The winery is also open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday.
