Eagle Point, a new ski resort located outside of Beaver, Utah, began operations in mid-December for the 2010-2011 season. Located in the Tushar Mountains, one of Utah’s tallest ranges, Eagle Point is billing itself as an affordable family snowsport destination. Its 36 trails are a mix of beginner, intermediate and expert terrain, with a halfpipe and significant backcountry opportunities. The region has an average snowfall of 400 inches per year.
“We wanted to create a place that would offer more than just great skiing,” said Shane Gadbaw, CEO. “Our goal is also to be family friendly, deliver outstanding dining, amenities and service and appeal to those who might be looking to get away from the crowds.”
Eagle Point has been established on the site of the former Elk Meadows Ski Resort. The property has undergone extensive renovations to two lodges, reconditioned its lifts and has implemented other significant infrastructure improvements.
“This year is all about a place where people can ski and have fun … getting back with the locals, reestablishing a connection to skiers from Las Vegas, southern Utah and Southern California,” said Gadbaw in an interview with Ski magazine.
Eagle Point is a 3½-our drive from Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, and a 6 to 8 hour drive from Southern California and Phoenix. With quick access from I-15, many of the region’s national parks and popular attractions are within a day’s driving distance.
