In March, the Utah Opera will present Mozart’s classic Italian opera, “The Marriage of Figaro.” Directed by David Gately and accompanied by the Utah Symphony under the conduction of Christopher Larkin, the opera delivers a tour de force of powerful musical composition and vocals. The opera will be held at Salt Lake City’s Capitol Theatre on March 14, 16, 18, and 20 at 7:30 p.m. and March 22 at 2:00 p.m. It will be performed in Italian with English supertitles.
Several educational opportunities exist for those interested in learning more about the opera. Dale Monson will lead a free Opera Preview Lecture on March 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Salt Lake City Library. There will also be a question and answer session with Utah Opera artistic director Chritopher McBeth following each performance in the Founders room of the Capitol Theatre.
Tickets range from $13-$85 depending on the day of the week.
