Park City Mountain Resort, named by SKI Magazine readers as North America’s top resort for mountain access, has introduced new events, concerts and instructional programs into its spring schedule for 2013.
Returning from previous years is the Helly Hansen Big Mountain Battle, a team challenge requiring skiers to cover a course of checkpoints, lifts and hikes around the mountain in under three hours. The grand prize is $2,000 worth of Helly Hansen gear.
Snowasis in the Snow, running March 25–31, will be a week of family-oriented events on the mountain, including a kids’ carnival and parade, an avalanche dogs meet-and-greet and an Easter celebration. The resort will also feature weekly apres concerts throughout March.
The “I Ride Park City” freestyle camp, a three-day instructional camp for skiers and snowboarders aged 9–15, enters its spring schedule with programs offered March 12-14, 19-21, 26-28 and April 2-4. One of the special features of the program is that students and their coach spend their three days together shooting each other with GoPro cameras and editing a digital video that each of them can take home.
Another program, designed especially for women, offers instruction by coaches who specialize in women’s skiing and snowboarding techniques. Participants will spend their entire three days with the same coach and group. The program will also begin with breakfast together on the first day and a farewell apres function on the third. Separate camps for the two sports will be offered March 1-3.
