Southern Utah is attracting exercise enthusiasts due to its multi-terrain atmosphere and high altitudes, ideal for endurance training. And now, an increasing number of sporting events in the area are making it a hot-spot for sports and fitness in the upcoming months.

Now in its third year, the Fire Road Cedar City event features off-road courses with views of Kolob Canyon, Zion and Cedar Breaks. Fire Road Cedar City will serve as a qualifying event for the Leadville Trail 100 MTB in 2013, taking place July 6 in Cedar City.

Larry H. Miller’s 2013 Tour of Utah, a professional cycling competition, has added Cedar City and Brian Head to its list of venues. The first stage of the cycling competition will begin Aug. 5 with opening festivities, and continue across the state for six days of racing.

The Red Rock Relay will take place at Zion National Park on Sept. 14, with a 187-mile course that begins at Brian Head Resort and stretches through Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument and Zion, before finishing in Springdale.
