Long Beach Rodeo

Bulls, cows and bucking broncos are stampeding into the Long Beach Peninsula for the 64th annual Long Beach Rodeo on July 25-26. This rollicking event promises all the elements of an old-fashioned family-friendly Wild West rodeo.

The Northwest Professional Rodeo performances start each day at 1 p.m., when the region’s top cowboys and cowgirls compete in bareback, saddle bronc, bull riding, breakaway roping, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing. Clients arriving early, before the main crowds, can see equally thrilling runs during the first round of competition for timed events.

Saturday, billed as Family Night, brings competitions for children like Calf Tails, Stick Horse Races and the Hangman Race. Clients can dig into a beef and pork barbecue and a traditional cowboy breakfast. The Ladies Mounted Drill Team adds a touch of pageantry to what is billed as the largest rodeo on the coast.

Adult admission is $10, while tickets for children ages five to 12 and seniors are $9 per person. The Rodeo Grounds are located at 6407 Sandridge Rd. in Long Beach.
