Festival of Art on San Juan Island

The fifth annual Artstock -- a fall art festival celebrating the diverse artistic culture of the area -- is coming to San Juan Island


The fifth annual Artstock -- a fall art festival celebrating the diverse artistic culture of the area -- is coming to San Juan Island on Oct. 1-2.

The event features two days of open art studios, art galleries, museum and other events. Lodging and dining specials are being offered in conjunction with the event.

Clients can take a unique self-guided art tour showcasing local artists in their creative environment throughout San Juan Island and attend museum and gallery receptions and events in the evening.

Participating museums and galleries include Arctic Raven Gallery, with native American art; Concepia, featuring photography; Gallery San Juan, home of unique local art; San Juan Islands Museum of Art, sharing local and regional pieces; Island Studios, with original local artwork; and Waterworks Gallery, focusing on contemporary artwork.

The open studio tour runs from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. both days. Among the participating studios include Anne Sheridan Photography, Spaulding Studios, Green Winds Studio, Joyce Crain, San Juan Glassworks and Paula West Pottery.
