Northwest Folklife Festival
The Northwest Folklife Festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary from May 27-30, 2011, at Seattle Center.
A popular Memorial Day Weekend tradition in Seattle, Northwest Folklife Festival is one of the largest community arts festivals in the country, featuring more than 7,000 diverse performers, participatory dances, workshops, crafts, food and more.
The rich cultural heritage of the Pacific Northwest is explored through a different theme each year. In honor of the festival's 40th anniversary, the theme of Northwest Stories features collaborations between local storytellers, poets, writers, singers and dancers.
The festival attracts some 250,000 visitors annually and offers free admission with a suggested donation per person or per family each day.
