Worland, Wyo., will play host to the Fifth Annual BBQ/Bluegrass Festival on Aug. 14 and 15 during which more than 25 barbecue specialists will converge to compete for prizes totaling more than $6,000. During the competition, each participant prepares his/her favorite recipes for categories that include beef brisket, pulled pork, ribs and chicken, as well as lamb and sauce.
The festival begins on Aug. 14, from 4 to 10:30 p.m., and continues on Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Washakie County Fairgrounds. Admission to the festival is free, but attendees are asked not to bring ice chests, coolers or outside food and beverages.
The festival is also part of the Kansas City Barbecue Society’s (KCBS) 2009 Great American BBQ Tour, a cross-country tour of some of the best barbecue and food festivals in the U.S. As part of the tour, KCBS barbecue pros will be on hand to hold special cooking demonstrations and provide food samples and recipes for attendees to taste and take home.
Worland, Wyo., is located in the middle of Big Horn Basin, an approximate midpoint between Casper, Wyo., and Billings, Mont.
