Jackson Hole Recognized for Environmental Excellence

The mountain resort leads the ski industry with sustainable practices

As of this year, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has achieved five years of ISO 14001 Registration, celebrating excellence in environmental sustainability. The ISO 14001 Registration is the most widely known and respected approval for businesses that seriously commit to minimizing their environmental impacts. Only one other ski industry resort in the U.S. has reached this high standard of approval.

Among Jackson Hole’s extensive number of sustainability practices were recycling efforts with motor oil, batteries, antifreeze and snowmelt. Their food and beverage department also received high praise for its sourcing and purchasing of sustainable products. Vehicle maintenance at Jackson Hole was recognized for converting their motors to operate on waste vegetable oil recycled from the dining facilities.

With the resort’s future ISO 14001 registration and Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Management Plan, Jackson Hole will be the only resort in the country to have the triple crown of environmental management. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is located in one of the world’s most intact inhabited environments and strives to be a leading sustainability force in the ski industry.
