Marking the Chinese New Year - and 2006’s Year of the Dog - Pacific Delight World Tours is offering an eight-day, air-inclusive package to Hong Kong that includes the festive Chinese New Year’s Day parade.

New Year festivities also include fireworks above the illuminated Victoria Harbor skyline at midnight, face painters, calligraphers and performers in the Flower Market and feasts of traditional Chinese foods.

The package also includes a half-day city tour of Stanley Market; a trip to the beaches of Repulse Bay, named for the British warship, HMS Repulse; Aberdeen’s sampan colony; and a ride up Victoria Peak for a panoramic view of the city, harbor and surrounding hills. A museum pass allows entry to six of Hong Kong’s most popular museums - the Science Museum, Museum of History, Space Museum, Museum of Art, Heritage Museum and the Museum of Coastal Defense.

Deluxe hotel choices are the Harbour Plaza Hotel, along the Whampoa waterfront and New World Renaissance Hotel, in the center of Tsimshatsui’s business, dining, shopping and entertainment scene; first-class possibilities are the Regal Kowloon Hotel, within walking distance of shopping areas along Nathan Road and Majestic Hotel, part of a 30,000-square-foot shopping arcade on Nathan Road.

Optional activities include a Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner of Peking Duck with a noodle-making demonstration, a western-style dinner at Cafe Deco on Victoria Peak with a jazz band and tables overlooking Victoria Harbour, and an international dinner buffet at the JW Marriott’s lobby lounge with a view of the fireworks celebration over the harbor.
