Eva Air is launching flights to Niigata, a new destination in Japan for the carrier. The airline is now operating regularly scheduled Taipei-Niigata flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Eva BR162 will depart Taipei at 10:50 a.m. and arrive in Niigata 3 p.m. local time. The return flight BR161 leaves Niigata at 4:30 p.m. and gets back to Taipei at 7:35 p.m.
Niigata is located on the Sea of Japan coast in the central part of Honshu, Japan’s main island. Niigata is a convenient alternative to Tokyo for travel to Japan’s Kanto, Koshinetsu and Hokuriku regions. Eva began operating the Taipei-Niigata charter flights in 1995. The charter flights proved to be popular among tourists traveling to Japan for Niigata’s snow-covered landscape and hot springs. The region’s popularity has grown steadily and the market has demonstrated potential for further development.
