Hong Kong, which is already known as an international MICE destination is now spotlighting Lantau Island as a destination ideal for business travel. Using a three-pronged approach, including leveraging local trade partners, hosting fam trips and unveiling a comprehensive MICE website, the city is investing heavily in the growth of Lantau as a much sought-after MICE destination.

“Lantau Island is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered by traveling business groups from all over the world,” said Bill Flora, U.S. director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board. “Exceptional offerings such as modern convention facilities, historic villages, cultural attractions, luxury shopping outlets, world-class hotel accommodations and hiking trails set Lantau Island apart among other top MICE destinations.”

As the largest and greenest isle in Hong Kong, Lantau Island provides a distinct mix of untouched nature, ancient Chinese traditions, lively entertainment and recreation all in one location. Only 30 minutes away from the bustling metropolis of Hong Kong, Lantau provides a state-of-the-art convention center, traditional conference options and a number of thematic, off-the-beaten-path venues and more. The island’s fully developed infrastructure coupled with its historic cultural attractions and pristine natural landscapes — which are virtually free of high-rise development — makes Lantau a one-of-a-kind, exciting destination for MICE-related events and activities.
