Two of Japan’s leading travel companies the JAL Group and JTB
Group have joined together in a broad partnership to boost inbound
and outbound travel by creating new flight options, marketing
efforts and tour packages.
The move dovetails with a goal of sending 20 million Japanese
travelers overseas in fiscal 2007 and drawing 10 million arrivals
to the country by 2010.
Under the plan, JTB’s regional operating company, JTB World
Vacations, and JALPAK will jointly plan and create products using
an expected more than 100 annual charter flights to boost demand
for regional travel.
JTB World Vacations and JALPAK also plan to create and sell
products and accept requests for group tours. They will also create
overseas package tours originating from all parts of Japan, and
will try to improve direct regional flight offerings to resort
areas such as Hawaii as well as develop new routes in Southeast
Asia.
Starting in fiscal 2007, charter flights will be expanded to
Europe, Oceania, Southeast Asia, and new beach resorts with
specific products are scheduled to be announced around October.
