Parkroyal at Pickering

The Pan Pacific Hotel Group announced its plans to open the Parkroyal on Pickering in Singapore come 2012. The property is created by award-winning design firm Woha. Once opened, the hotel will be known as one of the greenest in Asia at an investment value of nearly $238 million.

Parkroyal on Pickering will feature a hotel-in-a-garden concept and a sustainability program that has earned it a Green Mark Platinum score, Singapore’s highest green rating for its buildings’ environmental efficiency. Among the hotel’s features are rainwater harvesting, automatic sensors to regulate energy and water usage and solar cells that will power landscape lighting. Congruent to its green theme, this hotel is covered in beautiful greenery, such as its lofty, four-story-high sky gardens that intertwine in and around the facade of the building, offering a lush tropical setting for guestrooms and internal spaces. A variety of shade trees, tall palms, flowering plants, leafy shrubs and overhanging creepers are used in the design. In total, the property will boast over 160,000 square feet of sky gardens, reflecting pools, waterfalls, planter terraces and green walls.

The design of Parkroyal on Pickering demonstrates how we can not only conserve greenery in our high-rise city center but multiply it in a manner that is architecturally striking, integrated and sustainable,” said Donovan Soon, senior associate of  Woha. “It underpins our garden-city image and will make Singapore a world leader when it comes to green high-rise developments."

This 363-room property will be located near the bustling Chinatown close to the key gateway into the Central Business District and Raffles Place financial hub. Hotel amenities for clients include a wellness floor that will feature a day spa, a nature trail and a waterfall walk, as well as an expansive pool terrace, a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a business center with full secretarial services. Guests can also unwind at a rooftop bar, which offers spectacular 360-degree views of the city skyline. Waterfront entertainment and restaurant options along the Singapore River are also easily accessible.

“With its awe-inspiring design features, this is a brand-defining hotel for Parkroyal,” said A. Patrick Imbardelli, president and chief executive of Pan Pacific Hotel Group. “We are delighted to have Woha behind our flagship hotel and are looking forward to the hotel redefining the skyline in the area and setting new standards for the Parkroyal brand.”
