In a move to familiarize the travel agent community with the southern Caribbean island Curacao, the Curacao Tourist Board (CTB) has declared June to be its Travel Agent Appreciation Month. In doing so, the CTB has worked with high-profile air carriers and Curacao hotels to give agents deals and discounted rates. The CTB also hopes to increase awareness of Curacao among those agents who have never visited the island before.
Through June 15, Air Jamaica is offering $99 roundtrip tickets to Curaco from anywhere in the U.S., and America Airlines is offering $169 roundtrip tickets to the island from anywhere in the U.S. as well.
Agents will also get treated to special, low rates at participating resorts, including Hilton Curacao ($89 per night, including breakfast), Curacao Marriott Beach Resort & Emerald Casino ($104 per night), Lions Dive & Beach Resort ($48.75 per person per night), Chogogo Resort ($25 per person per night), the all-inclusive SuperClubs Breezes Resort, Spa & Casino ($75 per person), and the brand-new Renaissance Curaçao Resort & Casino ($99 per night).
Additionally, the CTB is offering agents a complimentary, full-day island tour. The tours will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays and will include a complimentary lunch of local cuisine.
“In addition to Travel Agent Appreciation Month, Curacao is presently working on an Agent Specialist Program, which will launch in the summer,” said Brenda Benjamin, director of marketing, Curacao Tourism Corporation. “These initiatives are designed to build a strong, small army of Curacao specialists. We realize that maintaining a consistent relationship with the travel agent community is critical if we are to achieve continued growth in the tourism sector.”
