Located on its own 300-acre private island (2 miles off the coast of Antigua), the opulent Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort beckons guests with its 40 guestrooms, suites and luxury villas. The resort also features privately owned villas and estate homes that are available for extended stays. These have two to eight bedrooms, and all offer sea views and have private pools and beaches. There’s 24-hour concierge service, and Jumby Bay’s Verandah Restaurant serves as an unofficial meeting place and hub for the island.
Pure Turquoise is Jumby Bay’s newest estate home — and a good example of the over-the-top features and amenities that clients can expect. Ideal for multigenerational travel, Pure Turquoise features nine cottages and seven bedrooms that connect through a central courtyard. When guests aren’t exploring West Indies culture, they can enjoy a zero-edge infinity pool, a private croquet lawn, a game room, a grass tennis court and a gym. They’ll also avail themselves of the services of a private butler and chef.
What’s more, the Antigua resort also recently debuted four “Estate Home Experiences,” with the promise of more on the way. The experiences offer a broad range of experiences, with lots of touch points for a variety of travelers, and include Family Adventure; Life & Environment; Mindful Vibes; and West Indies Immersion.
Below is more information about each experience.
Family Adventure Experience
The site for the Family Adventure Experience is Jumby Bay’s five-bedroom Sandpiper Beach House. Providing plenty of room for families, this offering has equal helpings of estate home experiences and mainland adventures. Multigen groups receive a private tour of Antigua’s historic sites such as Nelson’s Dockyard and English Harbour, as well as opportunities for swimming and photos with stingrays. Back at the estate home, they’ll kick back with a movie night on the beach and work out on a private Aqua Jump trampoline.
Life & Environment Experience
The six-bedroom, colonial-style La Casa estate home is where guests will find the “Life & Environment Experience.” Eco-minded clients will be able to immerse themselves in Jumby Bay’s natural environment, with an excursion led by the island’s Hawksbill Turtle researchers and a snorkel excursion via yacht. Guest can change things up with the option to zipline or enjoy a sophisticated private dinner on the beach, accompanied by the Caribbean beat of local steel pan artists.
Mindful Vibes Experience
The six-bedroom Lazy Lizard estate home lives up to its name, thanks to the option for clients to dial things down with Mindful Vibes Experience’s yoga practice. They’ll also take a variety of easy classes on how to prepare healthy food, as well as instruction from an Antiguan artist on how to wield a paintbrush.
West Indies Immersion Experience
This particular experience includes many options for lighthearted fun, Caribbean style, at the seven-bedroom Pure Turquoise Estate Home. Not only will there be spirited games of croquet on the estate’s private lawn, there will also be Caribbean cooking classes and lessons on how to play the island’s signature steel pan music.
