With the arrival of the 2,260-passenger Costa Luminosa in Miami in early December, Costa Cruises is placing its largest ship to date in the Caribbean.
Luminosa is a romantic ship with 1,310 staterooms and 106 suites. Fifty-two of the ship’s staterooms and four of the suites provide direct access to the spa via a private elevator. Nearly 70 percent of the ship’s accommodations have balconies. The enormous, two-level Samsara Spa has an excellent fitness area, a thalassotherapy pool, treatment rooms, a sauna, a Turkish bath, a UVA-ray solarium and delightful recovery rooms.
The ship has four restaurants and an enticing chocolate bar that emits aromas of rich chocolate that waft throughout the deck. Eleven bars, a three-level theater, a casino, a 4-D cinema, a Grand Prix racing simulator, three pools and outdoor jogging and roller skating tracks are all available for leisure time, along with a European-style disco, a huge poolside movie screen and an international children’s program.
Luminosa’s 10-day cruises from Miami call in Nassau or Freeport, Bahamas; Grand Turk or Princess Cays, Turks and Caicos; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Roatan, Honduras, and Cozumel, Mexico. The final roundtrip cruise from Miami for the season will depart March 17, and call in Belize City, Belize, instead of Roatan.
