Compagnie du Ponant is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the July launch of its newest luxury ship, Le Soleal. Similar to the line’s Le Boreal and L’Austral, the 132-stateroom vessel will be the fourth yacht in the company's fleet.
Le Soleal’s staterooms and suites include the elite Deck 6, where 13 suites have 24-hour butler service. Two restaurants offer dining with wine parings and a fine wine cellar and an outdoor pool with bar, a panoramic terrace adjoining the indoor bar lounge library with Internet stations. A full-service spa, a hammam, a hair salon, a tea room and a fitness center are all onboard.
All accommodations offer in-room Wi-Fi and flat-screen satellite television with complimentary on-demand movies, and there is a 250-seat theatre for live entertainment, film screenings and presentations. A fleet of expedition Zodiac boats outfitted with satellite tracking will be used for exploration.
Le Soleal will initially sail to the Arctic on polar expedition cruises, followed by cruises in Asia with 16 departures on 13 new itineraries from seven nights to 17 nights. Destinations include Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and India, as well as some more off the radar spots such as Borneo, Myanmar and Oman.
