With the new Newspaper Direct service, Crystal Cruises is introducing a new element of convenience and communication for their guests. The same-day service, which has already been implemented aboard the Crystal Serenity’s World Cruise, gives guests access to more than 370 full-format newspapers from 65 different countries.

Using satellite communications, Newspaper Direct creates full-format, same-day editions of a wide variety of newspapers from around the world. Each paper is priced at $6.50 and is delivered directly to one’s room. The service includes 74 U.S. publications, 40 from the U.K., and a range of reading options that span from hometown to international interests.

“ & Some travelers savor sitting on deck with a newspaper. They appreciate the connection with their hometowns from keeping up with local politics and financial news to sports and the social scene,” said Crystal Cruises’ senior vice president, Thomas Mazloum. “We’re continually adding choices and services, large and small, to make our guests feel that a Crystal ship is one’s most welcoming home away from home.”

Guests from hundreds of cities in North America sail with Crystal Cruises and, in the past five years, the line’s international guest mix has increased by almost 30 percent. Though they have offered onboard news since their inception, the introduction of Newspaper Direct marks a new phase of international communication for Crystal Cruises.

Available daily news publications include, but are not limited to: New York Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe, Dallas Morning News, Chicago Tribune, Kansas City Star, Albuquerque Journal and Charlotte Observer.

Likewise, many international selections are available as well, including Canada’s Globe and Mail, Great Britain’s Daily Telegraphic, Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald, Japan’s Okinawa Times, Mexico’s El Economista, Germany’s Financial Times Deutschland, Brazil’s O Globo and South Africa’s Sunday Times of Johannesburg.

Special-interest publications, such as Barron’s, Investor’s Business Daily, Hollywood Reporter and Playbook on football and basketball, are also available onboard.

A full list of selections and order forms are available in every stateroom and papers can be ordered onboard.
