Royal Caribbean International (RCI) recently announced new features for Allure of the Seas and a system for booking airfare that provides considerable choices for the consumer.
When she debuts this December, RCI’s 5,400-passenger Allure of the Seas will introduce distinctive features of her own, including a 3-D movie screen in the ship’s Amber Theater. (Freedom of the Seas, Liberty of the Seas, and Oasis of the seas will also be equipped with 3-D technology by January 2011.)
Combining the classic Mexican beach bar with Southern California’s taquerias, Rita’s Cantina will be located in the Boardwalk neighborhood, serving shrimp ceviche tostadas and fiesta guacamole, as well as entrees such as fajitas and chipotle-style flautas, for lunch or dinner. The restaurant also will offer a wide selection of margaritas and feature live guitar music and dancing at night.
Also new to the Boardwalk will be the The Boardwalk Dog House, an outdoor hot dog specialty counter. And, the Guess apparel brand will debut its first flagship fashion store at sea in the Royal Promenade neighborhood.
For departures beginning Aug. 3, all three brands in the RCI family (Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises) will use ChoiceAir, which allows guests to select their preferred airlines and itineraries and shop for the best prices among published fares and exclusive ChoiceAir specials.
Guests can purchase ChoiceAir through a travel agent, directly from RCI, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises contact centers, and online through a new ChoiceAir website. Agents purchase ChoiceAir for their clients through CruisingPower.com. A cost of $15 per person for domestic and $25 per person for international air travel will apply to bookings, which will include access to the ChoiceAir support desk, aid in cases of flight delays and assistance in making alternative flight arrangements in the event of missed embarkation. Passengers who have already used the system have posted very positive feedback online, regarding both price and choice.
