Tauck World Discovery is expanding its portfolio of European
river cruises by adding two new itineraries slated to debut next
spring. Along with the new cruises, Tauck is boosting its total
number of published river departures by 36 percent for 2008 and
taking delivery of its second all-new riverboat in two years.
Tauck’s two new river cruise itineraries are “The Rhine And
Moselle” (13 days, from $4,290 plus air), and “Prague To The Black
Sea” (20 days, from $7,290 plus air).
“The Rhine And Moselle” begins in Basel, Switzerland and
proceeds to Strasbourg, France before exploring Baden-Baden,
Heidelberg, Koblenz, Cochem and other towns and villages in
The itinerary also includes a visit to Luxembourg (where Tauck
guests enjoy lunch in a 12th-century castle), and shore excursions
in the Netherlands highlighted by a full day of sightseeing and
cultural experiences in Amsterdam.
“Prague To The Black Sea” combines two popular Tauck river
itineraries, “The Blue Danube” and “Budapest To The Black Sea.”
The package begins with a three-night hotel stay in Prague,
before guests begin their 14-day Danube River cruise in Regensburg,
Germany. The voyage highlights towns and villages in Austria,
Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania, and
concludes with a two-night stay in Bucharest at the five-star
Athenee Palace Hilton.
Like every Tauck river journey, the two new itineraries are
virtually all-inclusive. No options are sold on Tauck river
cruises, and each journey includes all shore excursions,
gratuities, transfers, onboard lectures and entertainment, and wine
with dinners.“The Rhine And Moselle” will feature Tauck’s MS Swiss
Diamond, while guests on “Prague To The Black Sea” will sail aboard
either the MS Swiss Emerald or the new MS Swiss Sapphire.
The Swiss Sapphire is under construction in the Netherlands. The
vessel will feature 59 outside-facing staterooms, including 14
luxury suites with 300 square-feet of living space. All cabins will
have a plasma TV, mini-bar, radio, safe, air conditioning and
