New this year, Insight Vacations has launched a luxury tour program, Insight Gold. Tour groups are intimate, with a maximum of 40 guests per tour, and the itineraries are enhanced with more in-demand sightseeing options, accommodations at five-star hotels and fine-dining experiences at authentic European restaurants.

Insight’s expert tour directors act as a personal concierge, providing well-informed yet unobtrusive assistance in each destination. Tour directors will also offer guests a range of half- or full-day excursions that are more tailored to individual tastes, such as a guided tour of the Louvre in Paris or a visit to Rome’s Colosseum and Catacombs.

“Travel agents and our customers have told us that they love our product — 2010 was our best year ever — but they also wanted to see us come out with a deluxe product. So, we listened to our agents,” Marc Kazlauskas, president of Insight Vacations, told TravelAge West. “Based upon how the tours are selling and how well we did last year, luxury travel is absolutely back.”

On the 15-day Britain & Ireland tour, clients visit the historic sites and age-old towns of Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland. Highlights of the tour include visits to Edinburgh Castle and Chatsworth House — the home of the Duke of Devonshire. Additionally, clients will gain insight to rural Irish life while enjoying afternoon tea with scones and Guinness cake on a private farm. Clients will also have the chance to stay at Dromoland Castle, one of Ireland’s premier castle hotels. Land only, the tour is priced from $5,435, based on double occupancy.

On the European Masterpiece itinerary — a 12-day excursion through Rome, Florence, Venice, Interlaken, Lucerne and Paris — travelers will spend two nights at each destination and stay in some of the finest hotels available, including Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal in Venice and Exedra Roma, located in the heart of Rome. Highlights of the tour include a visit to the Vatican and Sistine Chapel, wine tasting in Chianti and a privately guided tour of the Louvre Museum in Paris. Land-only prices begin at $5,050 per person, based on double occupancy.

Highlights of the 12-day Iberian Classic include visits to Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon, Gaudi’s neo-gothic Barcelona Cathedral, the church of Santo Tome in Toledo, the tomb of Christopher Columbus, Alhambra Palace and more. This tour through some of Iberia’s most vibrant cities — including Toledo, Granada, Madrid, Seville, Lisbon, Carmen and Barcelona — begins at $3,650 per person, land only and based on double occupancy.

On the Italian Vogue tour, clients will spend 11 days visiting some of Italy’s most picturesque sites, including the Blue Grotto in Capri and the Cinque Terre coastline. Guests will also taste the wine of the Roman Hills, lunch in the village of Monterosso, take a private tour of Pompeii and stay at the five-star Exedra Roma hotel in Rome. Land-only prices begin at $4,350 per person.
