The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has returned to its Museumplein home after a seven-month renovation and refurbishment, just in time to observe the 160th anniversary of the Dutch painter’s birth. The reopening is celebrated by the exhibition “Van Gogh at Work,” in which more than 200 paintings, works on paper, sketchbooks and letters by Vincent Van Gogh and his contemporaries will be on display. One of the highlights of the show is the actual paint-smeared palette that Van Gogh used when he painted his iconic self-portrait — in which the very same palette is featured.
