When it comes to making a play for visitors, hotels in Maui just keep upping the ante. Targeting a variety of markets, they have figured out the formula for sweetening the resort experience on a regular basis, whether it’s with a handy new guest service or an alluring activity.

Following are a few of the recent headlines from accommodations around the destination, sure to appeal to travelers who are considering a Valley Isle vacation.

Andaz Maui Makes Summer 2013 Debut
Set on Mokapu Beach, the 15-acre Andaz Maui at Wailea is slated to open this summer. Hawaii's first LEED-certified resort, it promises 297 guestrooms and suites, including seven villas; a full-service spa; 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space; and two restaurants, including Morimoto Maui by chef Masaharu Morimoto.

Destination Resorts Highlights Hookipa Desk
Named after the Hawaiian word for hospitality, the Hookipa Desk at Destination Resorts Hawaii features a personal concierge who customizes guest itineraries prior to arrival. While designing vacation experiences, Hookipa Desk staff can line up grocery shopping and delivery, a personal chef, golf tee times, spa treatments and more.

Fairmont Kea Lani Offers Pre-Arrival Vacation Planning
Fairmont Kea Lani has introduced its own pre-arrival program providing guests with personalized vacation planning. Clients are contacted 60 days before their trip to set up reservations for activities, dining and events, resulting in a customized itinerary that is unique to the traveler’s interests.

Hyatt Maui Introduces Children’s Check-In
Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is inviting arriving young guests to check in at its new keiki (children’s) registration desk, mirroring their parents’ registration at the front desk. Kids get a small gift bag with tropical-themed favors, brochures on family resort activities, an activity book, crayons, sand dollars and hotel post cards.

Kaanapali Alii Lights Up With Grill Masters
Kaanapali Alii, a condominium resort, has added free grill master services to its list of complimentary perks. Guests can use the resort’s oceanfront barbecues while grilling experts provide helpful tips. An herb garden and complimentary marinades, plates, utensils, napkins and aluminum foil enhance the experience.

Sheraton Maui Touts 50th Anniversary Exhibit
At Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa’s 50th Anniversary exhibit, guests can see photos and newspaper clippings from the property’s grand opening in 1963. As the first major hotel to open on a neighbor island, it welcomed such high-profile guests as singer/actor Bing Crosby, golfing great Sam Snead and entertainer Bob Hope.

Westin Kaanapali Launches Adventure Program For Kids
The Westin Kids Club at Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas has unveiled an adventure guide for children ages five to 12 years old. Half- and full-day themed programs range from Groovy Tie Dye Tuesday and Wacky Water Wednesday to Nature Escape on Thursdays and Design Your Own Flip Flops on Fridays.
