It’s getting easier to get around the islands, thanks to a multi-route expansion by Island Air. The carrier is extending its inter-island service with two new nonstop routes connecting Maui with Lanai and Kauai.

“We are adding these new routes to serve both Hawaii residents and tourists,” said Les Murashige, Island Air chief operating officer. “Whether visiting family and friends, going shopping or for vacation, these daily flights will provide more travel options and bring destinations within easier reach.”

Beginning April 2, Island Air will increase nonstop connections between Kahului, Maui and Lanai. The new 20-minute flight will enhance travel options for residents of Lanai and offer guests of Lanai’s Four Seasons Resorts a direct connection from Kahului. Flight 340 will depart Lanai for Kahului at 11:30 a.m., with return flight 341 to Lanai taking off from Kahului at 12:20 p.m.

Effective June 1, Island Air will operate a nonstop flight between Lihue, Kauai and Kapalua, Maui. Flight 524 will leave Lihue for Kapalua at 11:45 a.m., with return flight 525 departing Kapalua at 1:05 p.m.

“We continue to invest in the community of West Maui, and the Kapalua route will give both visitors and residents a more convenient nonstop travel option,” Murashige remarked.

One-way tickets for both new routes start as low as $59. Bookings made at will receive a 10 percent discount on all fares. Reservations for the two new routes are now being accepted.

Island Air continues to make travel more convenient for customers by offering free same-day standby travel for ticketed passengers, low change fees for date or time adjustments, 10 percent discounts on Web reservations, home Web check-in, and code-sharing partnerships with Aloha Airlines, Continental Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and United Airlines.

Hawaii’s leading regional carrier, Island Air now offers 92 daily flights between Oahu, Maui (Kahului Airport and Kapalua Airport), Molokai, Lanai, Kauai and the Island of Hawaii (Hilo International Airport and Kona International Airport).
