The Ko Olina Golf Academy has debuted on Oahu’s Leeward Coast, offering personalized instruction as well as group and corporate golf schools each professionally designed to help meet individual performance goals. Located within the 642-acre Ko Olina Resort & Marina master-planned community, the Ko Olina Golf Club features an 18-hole Ted Robinson-designed course.

“We have purchased a great digital video system, also know as VI Technology, which will allow us to give a state of the art computer-aided video lesson to every student in our schools,” explained Greg Nichols, Ko Olina Golf Club’s general manager. “This is just the beginning. We will be introducing many more learning tools and even greater facilities as the Academy grows.”

The Ko Olina Golf Academy features a student to instructor ratio of four to one to optimize each learning experience. Every student receives a personal evaluation and digital video lesson, and both full-day and two-day schools include lunch.

“We really try to make the golf swing simple,” said Nichols. “It’s not rocket science. When a person leaves the school, we want them to understand what makes their swing work. We want them to understand the individual things they need to do in practice and play to make their game better.”

The half-day school is geared to the golfer wishing to develop or review their fundamentals and improve their scoring shots around the green. The program covers putting, chipping, pitching, bunker shots and a digital video lesson on a participant’s full swing. Held from 8-11:30 a.m., the half-day session is $185 per person.

“This has been our most popular school so far,” added Nichols. “We really emphasize the short game and how to score better. After school, students can immediately apply what they’ve learned on the course.”

Designed for the serious or experienced golfer, the full-day school is held from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for $350 per person. Highlighted are the short game and full swing, with special emphasis on pre-shot routine, swing improvement through improved practice habits and identification of a participant’s personal best swing keys.

For those wanting to take it to the extreme, a two-day school offers a comprehensive and personalized program for learning to play the game more consistently, including in-depth instruction on both full swing and short game. On-course instruction is emphasized to help develop shot strategies, learn to read greens and handle all types of lies and playing conditions. The session also teaches better practice skills so students can continue to improve their game on their own.

Other Ko Olina Golf Academy services include individual instruction, video lessons, club-fitting sessions, group specialty clinics, playing lessons, junior lessons and parent junior lessons.
