Pleasant Holidays Says ‘Phone Home’

Documentation packets to include ekit

By: Dawna Robertson

Pleasant Holidays continues to make travel easier for its clients. The wholesaler has an-nounced an alliance with ekit, a prepaid phone service offering a phonecard also covering mobile, internet and e-mail services specifically designed for travelers. The Pleasant Holidays Phonecard will begin appearing in travelers’ documentation packets immediately.

Founded in 1999, ekit has established itself as the world leader in the provision of commu-nication services in the travel industry. Its combined business-to-business partnerships reach over six million customers world-wide.

Specifically designed for travelers, the Pleasant Holidays Phonecard works from over 150 countries. It is pre-paid and loaded with features such as voicemail (where family and friends can leave messages for free), text messaging, e-mail, travel assistance, and a secure online travel vault to store photocopies and details of important travel documents.

“The Pleasant Holidays Phonecard is just one more way we’re helping our valued guests feel completely comfortable, with one less thing to worry about during their vacation experience,” noted Tim Irwin, Pleasant Holidays president and CEO. “The Pleasant Holidays Phonecard provides significant savings on customer call costs while away from home, and allows the traveler to stay in touch with family and friends.”

The Phonecard can be used with existing cell phones or any land-line with touch-tone capabilities. Each Pleasant Holidays Phonecard comes with a special account number and PIN, five free minutes of talk-time and an additional $5 in bonus minutes if recharged before the travelers’ departure. Details are featured at www.pleasantholidays.ekit.com.

Travelers can join ekit to try the free services it provides. However, the full range of capabilities is available only to paid members. Each Phonecard comes with a set of instructions and handy tips on how to use the service.

In other Pleasant news, TheBigDay has selected the wholesaler as its exclusive provider of honeymoon travel to Hawaii, Mexico, the South Pacific and Asia.

The agreement involves honeymoon travel bookings made by phone with TheBigDay’s in-house travel counselors, online honeymoon travel bookings powered by the Pleasant Holi-days Online Partner Link booking engine and honeymoon travel leads generated at TheBigDay. These leads are dispatched to TheBigDay’s in-house travel counselors and its 100-plus retail travel agent partners nationwide.

“Our entire team at Pleasant Holidays is extremely impressed with the many unique features and capabilities offered by TheBigDay to those planning weddings and honeymoons,” Irwin remarked. “We’re looking forward to working closely with TheBigDay management to form a very productive and mutually beneficial relationship.”

In the same way that couples register for china and crystal, they can register for all elements of their dream honeymoon at TheBigDay. The site offers a selection of simple tools enabling couples to create their own unique registry of honeymoon gifts they would like to receive - airfare, accommodations, romantic dinners, spa treatments, snorkeling excursions, sunset cruises and more. Wedding guests can then visit the couple’s registry at TheBigDay and purchase gifts from their “wish list.”

The average couple receives over $2,000 in gifts by es-tablishing a honeymoon registry at TheBigDay. Those dollars can then be applied toward the purchase of their honeymoon trip with Pleasant Holidays or with any of TheBigDay’s other preferred travel suppliers.

“We are very excited to have Pleasant Holidays as our strategic partner because they are one of the premier providers of high-end honeymoon travel,” commented Terry Beard, TheBigDay’s cofounder and chairman.
