Up until recently, visitors arriving at Honolulu International Airport had three main ways to get to their hotels in Waikiki: they could rent a car, hail a cab or wait for a ground shuttle. Now a fourth option is on the table thanks to Roberts Hawaii, which recently launched a new reservations-based transfer service.

According to Roberts Hawaii president Percy Higashi, the Roberts Hawaii Express Shuttle promises a higher level of service at a lower price tag than other options.

"In developing the Roberts Hawaii Express Shuttle, we paid close attention to what customers want," said Higashi. "They want more value. They prefer the smaller vehicles. They like being met at the gate and shown the way to baggage claim. They want fewer stops along the way so they can get to and from the airport faster. We built all of those things into our new service."

Customers riding the Roberts Hawaii Express Shuttle are met in person at their arrival gate by a Roberts Hawaii representative, escorted to baggage claim, assisted with their luggage and taken to their vehicle. The service also uses minibuses rather than motor coaches, takes guests to their hotel entrance rather than a drop-off zone nearby and makes no more than five hotel stops each way.

The Roberts Hawaii Express Shuttle costs $20 per person for a roundtrip and $12 for a one-way ride, and it is commissionable to travel agents. Advance reservations are required at least 24 hours ahead of time.
