The Grand Wailea wants to provide guests with accommodations that are “more like home and less like a hotel,” according to a resort official. That’s why it just spent $150,000 to renovate its two 5,500-square-foot Grand Suites, which now incorporate metal, glass, stone, woods and opulent fabrics into an elegant island-style space. Located in the Maui resort’s exclusive Napua Tower, the suites feature luxuries like hand-finished sofas with silk throw pillows, macassar wood lamps with raffia shades, silver leaf touch-latch cabinet doors and a large-screen TV hidden behind a framed art screen that automatically rolls up when the set is turned on. The panoramic ocean views alone are the best in the resort. The result is a warm environment that most any client would love to call home. Each Grand Suite goes for $15,000 per night.
